Membership Benefits
Why should our Hellenic Student Association become a member of NHSA?
1. Becoming a member of NHSA is good for networking and finding sponsors for your local Hellenic Student Associations (HSAs). As a NHSA member, your HSA will expand its activities outside of your area, coordinate efforts with other Greeks, Greek-Americans and Cypriots who form a strong academic, professional and living community in the US nowadays.
2. NHSA can use its resources and connections to provide any type of support and help to the local HSA and the local academic community.
3. NHSA, as a central umbrella Association, can initiate large-scale activities that benefit every local HSA. Examples include academic information campaigns in Greece, organization of costly lecture series by important persons of Greek heritage, exchange of students etc.
4. The NHSA Conventions that will be held twice a year, is a good experience, especially for small HSAs that have the opportunity to share their problems/concerns/difficulties, get advice/solutions and discuss ideas about events.
5. Future career opportunities
6. In terms of organizational matters, NHSA can provide you with sample handbooks, Constitutions and any other useful information, especially if you have just started your HSA and need help making it work and bringing the local Greek community together.
7. Member-HSAs also have access to NHSA’s different databases, such as the PhD students list in the US, the scholarships database, the Professors forum and the contact information of all HSAs and local academic communities in the US.
8. Representatives from local HSAs can participate in NHSA elections, assume a position in the NHSA Board and actively help NHSA represent and unite Greek, Greek-American and Cypriot students and academic scholars in the US.
9. Member HSAs are given the opportunity to project their university/area, as well as, their local activities by organizing one of the two NHSA Conventions which bring together Greek, Greek-American and Cypriot students, academic scholars and other prominent figures from around the US.
Upon membership, what are the responsibilities of the HSA?
Following there is a list of things that should be provided within the first two months after signing the NHSA Membership Agreement:

2. Provide a list with the contact information of the Greek/Greek-American PhD students and Professors in your University. Please mention their field of expertise and research interests.

4. Please inform us of any big events that are taking place in your Universities/areas and might be of interest to the rest of the Greek community/HSAs. This information should be emailed to the NHSA Vice President of Internal Affairs.
5. Each member-Chapter is obliged to send a representative to at least the Spring NHSA Convention during which the NHSA Board elections are held. It is also advised, but not mandatory, that representatives are sent to the Fall NHSA Convention, a meeting that serves more social and networking purposes of the organization.
