Truth, History, Diversity
Dear NHSA Community,
Are YOU a defender of reality?
Truth, History, Diversity. Words whose meaning was unambiguous. Lies, distortion, and discrimination have been around for just as long. Recently, however, they have begun to blend. Concrete to convoluted.
International Treaties and Conventions on human rights, sovereignty, and the environment are challenged or disregarded.
Human-impacted climate change is denied.
FYROM is Macedonia and the birthplace of Alexander the Great.
Second-hand briefings become first-hand accounts.
Religious symbolism is being reinterpreted.
The last point refers to Lidl’s recent removal of church crosses in pictures of emblematic landscape on their food packaging. Equally unsettling is the defense of this distortion of reality. Diversity. The spokesperson stated, “We avoid the use of religious symbols because we do not want to exclude any religious beliefs…We are a company that respects diversity and this is what explains the design of this packaging.”
Diversity is the respect and inclusion of other cultures, ideas, and beliefs into the shared fabric of society. Education, evolution, and excellence can only be attained by knowing and respecting our separate and common history, our individual and communal ambitions, and the truth.
Where do you stand?
Sincerely,
Alexander Thomopulos
